Important Fact of the Day!

I have just been appraised, by a very reputable source*, of a most interesting and important fact:

The average four-year-old child asks 437 questions a day.

I just wish this source could have drilled further down and worked out exactly what proportion of those 437 questions were just the word 'Why?'.

Or, indeed, the new New! Improved! version we get in our household... "yeah... but... WHY?"

This just convinces me even further than the people who choose a career in Early Childcare are either

a) bonkers

or

b) modern day saints.

What say you?

Odd Spot #173: Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump
and
Odd Spot #391: Slugs have four noses
are also particularly pertinent.

I say "modern day saints"...because even the CC workers at Grizzlewick's CC have been known to grimace and wearily observe they are in possession of a killer headache brought on by over-excited kids.

To be bonkers, you'd have to live through that and still be smiling while little Theo punched you in the kidneys for the 14th time (or was that one of the trials of St Catherine? I can't remember).

I dunno... there's a decidedly crazed look in the eyes of the poor girl looking after the 'Rainbow Room' when I go to pick the twins up...

It make me wonder why more men aren't in childcare. They would be perfect with their selective deafness and ability to play play games all day.

Grizzle's last childcare had a male worker who was lovely, but he is the only bloke I have met in childcare.

In fact he was quite the space cadet, a quality the kids adored.

There was a young guy working at the centre when the twins first started. They adored him. All the kids did.

I think he went off to work in the youth camps in the US though. Which is a pity because he had a real connection with the kids.
